Safe swaddling.
Did you know?
In the early months of life, swaddling or wrapping your baby can be a great way for them to feel safe and settled.
There are many different ways to swaddle your baby, but here are a few important considerations.
What can you do?
Ensure the chest and hips are not tightly wrapped. There should be enough room for the legs to bend and sperate.
The swaddle should begin below the neck and be firm enough so it doesn’t become loose bedding.
Ensure baby is appropriately dressed beneath the wrap to prevent overheating.
Ensure baby is placed on their back to sleep, and provide a safe sleeping environment.
Swaddling should be ceased as soon as baby is showing signs of rolling. Do not continue swaddling after 6-months of age.
