Did you Know?

Tummy time is any position when the baby is lying on their front and can lift their head up. This helps neck, shoulder, arm and back muscles to get stronger and help movement. In the beginning babies will only tolerate a short period of time on their tummy, by 3 months they may manage around 10 minutes or longer.

What can you do?

  • Encourage supervised tummy time as often as possible when your baby is awake and alert

  • Interact with your baby using toys or talking and singing to make it fun.

  • Some babies will be unsettled during tummy time, try a variety of positions like below

Remember!

  • Babies will get better at tummy time with lots of practise

  • Never leave your baby alone during tummy time

  • Make it fun for the baby and change it up to keep them interested
